This museum chronicles the region's history of environmental pollution from the 1930s to the 1960s. Scientific data, videos, and photographs relate the terrible effects of mercury poisoning on human beings, giving an insight into the scope of the environmental disaster caused by Japan's hyper-expansionist post-war economic policy. The exhibition encourages the visitor to confront the social and health consequences of this tragedy useing witness accounts and testimonials, so that we do not repeat the mistakes of the past.
