Lasfond castle
La Guía Verde
La opinión de la Guía Michelin
Overlooking the River Côle from its clifftop, its curtain walls and entrance postern have been preserved. The main building dates back to the 15C, the lovely stables that skirt the courtyard were added in the 17C and the dwelling house adjoining the castle dates from the 18C. Fate has not been very kind to the castle: it was devastated by the Black Prince in the 14C, burnt down along with 260 Catholic peasants from the village by Admiral de Coligny in the 16C, besieged by king's troops during the Fronde and, finally, in 1916, ravaged by a fire caused when lightning struck.
