The banks of the Prek Teuk Chhou River, which runs through Kampot, have been converted into a lovely riverside walk, shaded by ficus and casuarinas trees. If you are there late in the afternoon, don't miss the mesmerising procession of the fishing boats on their way to the open sea. An old steel framed bridge spans the river in the centre of town. Further downstream are several 1920s colonial villas, including the former governor's house, now a museum.
