Located in a village called Villarepos, which loosely translates as Restful villa, overlooking Lake Morat, this inn is a haven of the tranquillity that is so emblematic of Switzerland. The flower-decked window boxes, green shutters and white-washed walls and gables of this picture postcard house seem to have stepped straight out of fairy tale… Christa and Arno, who bend over backwards to make you feel at home, usher you into an elegant, wainscoted dining room. Classical cuisine and premium regional produce are the watchwords of the menu, illustrated by consommé of tomatoes and fillets of smoked fera from Lake Mora, or carpaccio of Villarepos rabbit with roasted pine nuts and quail’s egg. An establishment whose chef, Aächerli, quietly feeds us well, thanks to dishes that combine blessed familiarity with flawless execution.
