A mathematician in the kitchen! Although it sounds like a film title, this is the career path of owner-chef Paolo Gramaglia who, together with his charming wife Laila (a lawyer by profession), runs this elegant restaurant just over 500m from Pompeii’s archaeological site. Both the food and the hospitality are excellent at this restaurant, where this dynamic couple give guests their undivided attention. Laila takes care of the wine and front of house, while Paolo dedicates himself to creating delicious, seasonal and moderately creative dishes from the Campania, including the occasional reinterpretation of traditional dishes from Pompeii. You’ll also find intriguing mathematical references in Italian on the menu – feel free to ask the chef for explanations! The dining room boasts beautiful furnishings and careful lighting but has just five tables so it’s best to book ahead.
