There’s a sweet, cosy feel and plenty of homespun charm to this tiny 18C, Grade II listed building in the centre of town. The warm and welcoming Elizabeth performs the service, while her husband James works alone in the kitchen. His menu offers a choice of three dishes per course – often featuring rare breed meats and Cornish fish – and the cooking is classical, comforting and satisfying. It only seats 14, so you do need to book early.
