Chef/owner Thip Athakhanh may have moved to the United States as a toddler, but her roots in western Laos come shining through at Snackboxe Bistro. The broad menu also overlaps with Thai and Vietnamese cuisine for a likeable selection of dishes that come piled so high you'll have leftovers for days (hint: bring a friend or three). Plates to not miss include wings coated in a funky-sweet jeow bong sauce with just a hint of spice, and nam khao, a classic crispy rice salad, that is a riot of flavors and textures. Made with fermented pork sausage, herbs, onions and peanuts with fish sauce, lime, rice vinegar and sugar, it's positively delicious. End on a sweet note with a slice of coconut cake or fried donuts with condensed milk.
