Chef Roberto Alcocer brings his vision of modern Mexican cuisine to this handsome space in the Mission Pacific Hotel overlooking the scenic Oceanside Pier. The name is a nod to the Valle de Guadalupe in Baja California, Mexico’s premier viticultural region, and the source of a plethora of interesting options on the wine list. The elaborate tasting menu is imaginative, and the likes of mushroom and goat cheese tetela or, say, corn chowder ice cream with trout roe strike a fine balance of creative and flavorful. A roaring fireplace anchors the main dining room run by an attentive team.
