Chef Jochen Provoost and your hostess, Lien, have superbly refurbished this mansion behind Saint Barbara’s Church in a crisp modern vein. The open kitchen cannot fail but catch the eye with its huge roasting spit and gleaming copper pans. Top-drawer produce, such as Spitsbroek asparagus, is crafted with textbook attention to detail. The chef might prepare a piece of Belgian beef with a creamy Archiduc sauce, green beans, pickled veggies, a gherkin mousse and a pickle potato. This dish is emblematic of the chef’s generous personality and his unstuffy version of fine dining goes down a treat with good vibes galore!
