Located in the centre of Ligist, this restaurant run by the Wörgötter family has won over diners with its twin dining concepts: "Wirtshaus" ("Traditional Inn") and "Fine Dining". The latter proposes creative, modern cuisine that draws on international influences. At the helm in the kitchen, Florian Wörgötter represents the third generation of the family, and now runs the establishment with his partner Julia Mausser. His reasonably priced five- or seven-course surprise menu features savvy, elaborate combinations that create interesting contrasts and are packed with wonderful flavours. For example, top-quality salmon – beautifully firm and juicy as it is processed pre-rigor mortis – is paired with a punchy shiso ponzu, tender mandarin segments and a delicately balanced honeydew melon and tarragon gel. Select a bottle from the nicely curated wine list to accompany your food, or opt for harmonious wine pairings by the glass to set off the menu perfectly. The dining area is elegant and, in summer, tables are laid out on the terrace in front of the building. The service is charming and efficient – the lady of the house is always on hand to offer advice and assistance. The bar in the entrance area is the perfect spot for a nightcap.
