Both the owner and chef hail from Panzhihua City in the far south of Sichuan. The city’s name also means red silk cotton flower, which is a recurring theme in the decor and the menu. Red silk cotton flower salad in soybean paste dressing tastes crisp and savoury. Dou sheng is a wholesome soup with shredded ham and pumpkin in puréed young soybean and spinach. Like most Yanbian dishes, the food is rich in natural umami without being overly spicy.
