This oval amphitheatre (112 m by 98 m) once held 10,000 spectators. It has kept its double walls and is the main monument on the site of Vindonissa, a military camp that was the Roman headquarters in the 1C of all Helvetia in what is now the town of Windisch. The items found during the dig are on show in Vindonissa-Museum, Brugg.
