In this park, created in 1924, mechanical erosion combined with that of water has formed a genuine forest of natural spires called the "Standing-up rocks" by the Apache. The play of light between the tightly packed lines of rhyolite columns is fascinating. The Scenic Drive swings past the park's main hiking trails and finest viewpoints.
