The river, the last before the Portuguese border, is remarkably sheltered and protected by the Islas Cíes. Vigo, Spain's leading fishing port, is just one of its many harbours. To the north of the sea inlet, Cangas and Moaña are two small seaside resorts renowned for their lovely beaches. To the south, you can see the town of Vigo covering the entire hillside in white.
