From wherever you may be in the Mendoza Valley, the snow-capped summit of the Aconcagua draws the eye, whether lost in the mist or glimmering against a clear sky. Although only experienced climbers should attempt the climb, the road that leads to Chile runs along this mountain, taking in some spectacular sites. Even the less hardened will be able to fill their lungs with the air of the high Andes and take a few steps outside the footpaths.
