Occupied by the French Army's 8th Signal Regiment since 1944, Fort Mont Valérien has also been home to a military pigeon and meteorology service since 1922. A place of remembrance, the site commemorates the 4 500 hostages and resistance fighters shot by the Germans during the Occupation, including Honoré d'Estienne d'Orves, Missak Manouchian and Gabriel Péri.
