Five museums are grouped together on the corner of Chestnut and State Streets: the Museum of Fine Arts, devoted to 17C-19C European and American art; the George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum, which showcases eastern, Greek and Roman art; the Springfield Science Museum, devoted to natural science; the Museum of Springfield History, charting the development of the Connecticut Valley since the 17C and The Amazing world of Dr. Seuss, devoted to the work of Theodor Geisel, born in Springfield.
