This old cotton mill (1862), an example of 19C industrial architecture, was renovated in 1993 by the architect Alain Sarfati to house France's national labour archives (ANMT). From the outside, the building calls to mind both a liner and a medieval fortress, with its crenellations and watchtower, and then there is its drawbridge, hinted at by the metal structure dominating the entrance.
