The abbey of this 12C monastery is one of the oldest brick churches in Denmark. For 200 years, monarchs and members of the royal family were buried here. The 20 royal tombs include that of Valdemar I, who was the first to decide to make Ringsted the official burial place of the Danish monarchy.
