The Dachstein-Sud cable car ascent up the vertical face of Hunerkogel is vertiginous. On arrival, there is a fine view south over the Schladming Tauern and it highest peak, Hochgolling. Closer by stand the formidable Hoher Dachstein and Koppenkarstein. To the north, the gentler slopes of the Dachstein glacier and Salzkammergut make for a pleasant contrast. On the other side there is a breathtaking view over the Austrian Alps.
