Climbing from the moment it leaves Praid, this well-maintained road rises along the Tarnava Valley and then the Craca Valley, traversing some lush forest landscape that is especially striking in autumn. After 23km, the road reaches the Bucin pass (1 287m) where refreshment stalls encourage a stop, before dropping gently down to the Gheorgheni plateau.
