This traditional square, with its Marian column, is depicted by a wealth of Italianate façades and houses. The surrounding lanes are steeped in Mediterranean charm and flavour. To the north, a door set in a pedimented building adds a discreet solemnity to its rural allure. It opens onto the large almost-circular area of the former abbey, around which the town has grown.
