The ideal way to explore Marajó, once you have enjoyed its beaches, is to spend at least a day in a fazenda. You can either go horse riding or take a boat tour to see the wildlife, but the main interest is to gain an insight into everyday life in these immense, secluded properties in the middle of the jungle. All the pousadas organise excursions to the fazendas. You also have the option of staying overnight.
