Skirting Green Island, the Rideau River drops over a sheer cliff into the Ottawa River. The intensity of the flow depends on the time of year. The falls are best viewed in the spring, or in winter when they are frozen. Footbridges command fine views of the Ottawa and Gatineau Rivers.
