After crossing the vast Senjogahara Plateau west of Mt Nantai, the waters of Lake Yunoko flow into Lake Chuzenji at Ryuzu Waterfall. Over the course of a 210m difference in elevation, between the Yugawa River upstream and the lake, they divide into two arms (shaped like a dragon's head) and make their way through large volcanic rocks. The terrace of the tearoom near the main waterfall is a great vantage point for admiring the tumultuous waters between the banks that in autumn glow red with the turning leaves of lime, maple and beech trees and rhododendrons.
