Facing Via Toledo and the San Carlo theatre, this large shopping arcade with a mosaic floor made of marble, gilded motifs and low-relief carvings, was opened in 1890, just at the time when covered arcades were the height of fashion in Paris. In the centre of the arcade, the glass and wrought-iron dome is supported by elegant female figures.
