Once owned by property developer John Collins, Collins Park is surrounded by Modernist hotels built in the 1930s. The futuristic tower fin on Plymouth Hotel (336 21st Street), designed by Anton Skislewicz in 1940, is inspired by the space-age pylon showcased at the 1939 World's Fair. At the corner of Collins Avenue and 22nd Street, the W brilliantly blends raw materials and contemporary works of art. In the heart of the park is the Base Museum of Art.
