Named for a longtime director of the National Park Service and early park superintendent, the museum traces the human and natural history of the park, highlighting Thomas Moran paintings and William Henry Jackson photographs from the 1871 Hayden expedition. The facility also serves as the primary Yellowstone information center and backcountry permit office.
