The vast park created by the Grand Dukes of Baden on this 45ha island now provides a real paradise for garden-lovers, hence its nickname of Flower Island. The flower beds are replanted three times a year and the arboretum contains some magnificent specimens including Lebanon and Deodar cedars, maples, beeches and fig trees, some of which were planted in the mid 19C.
