The Doi Inthanon national park is a must for hikers and birdwatchers. In these mountains covered in dense jungle, home to Thailand's highest peak, Doi Inthanon (2 595m), visitors can admire the hundreds of species of birds found here (make sure you bring your binoculars!). Numerous footpaths refreshed by splendid waterfalls (e.g. Mae Klang and Mae Ya) will enable you to discover some of the ethnic groups who live in these mountainous landscapes, such as the Hmong and Karen tribes.
