This is one of the most important landmarks in the city. For the inhabitants of Lyons, "Bellecour" is a meeting place and venue for events. In the centre, "bronze horse" is the Lyons' nickname for this equestrian statue of Louis XIV. It is decorated with bronzes by the Coustou brothers representing the Rhone and the Saône. In front of the Post Office building stands the isolated tower of the 17C Charity Hospital.
