Over the course of some 20 years of archaeological digs, traces of a Roman house and baths, as well as the original foundations and successive extensions of the early cathedral and the baptistery have been unearthed in this 10C church. From April to October, every evening at 7pm, a concert of the permanent Puccini e la sua Lucca Festival is held in the church.
