It is definitely worth making the effort to visit the great gateway to Lima so as to soak up its bustling atmosphere, majestically dilapidated old houses, lively throngs of locals, fish market, smoky eateries - in other words, that vibe common to land's end locations. The best way to drink it all in is to take a walk, around noon, around the Mercado Central and Avenida Saenz Peña, Callao's large main thoroughfare and shopping street.
