The Mercado Central, not far from the Barrio chino (Chinatown), is a treasure trove for clothing, fabrics and crafts. The ambience is unique and the alleys are packed from morning 'till night. However should you fail to find your heart's desire, head for the multitude of shops that line the surrounding lanes, but beware, it is a bewildering tangle where it is all too easy to get lost!
