Since its creation c 1200, Briggate has been the city's main commercial thoroughfare. Among the arcades, Country Arcade is the most luxurious, but you can also stroll through the attractive covered markets, most notably the Corn Exchange, a manifesto of Victorian refinement, and admire the Grand Theatre.
