In the dry season, you can reach this island on the Mekong river by an unusual bamboo bridge. Up until 2017, it was the only bridge onto the island and was swept away every year in June by the river and then patiently rebuilt in November. A concrete bridge now provides access to Koh Paen all year long. The island is depicted by a series of pastoral landscapes, which can be admired along a 12km/7.5mi road that runs across the island from north to south.
