This magnificent lookout, a rocky spine perched almost 200m above the Elbe, emerges from a landscape of rocky formations. Be sure to head to the bridge (Basteibrücke), which you come to after a short descent: 76m long, it spans the precipice gaping between the rocks, enabling you to get from one summit to another. The view takes in a substantial swathe of Saxon Switzerland (Sächsische Schweiz); in fine weather you can see as far as Bohemia.
