Grande Dixence Dam

Guía Michelin
Vale la pena el viaje
Monumento civil y militar
La opinión de la Guía Michelin
At an altitude of 2 365m, this dam represents the greatest feat of civil engineering ever undertaken in Switzerland. Water is directed here from a glacier at the foot of the Matterhorn, travelling around 100km through galleries before being used to power the Fionnay, Riddes-Nendaz and Chandoline electricity plants in the Rhône Valley. This contributes 1 600 million kWh to the Swiss grid annually.
