St Nikolaus von Myra is Friesach's Dominican monastery church. It was founded in 1217 and was the order's first establishment in a German-speaking country. It is Carinthia's largest church and has a simplicity of style in keeping with Mendicant Order rules. Note the life-size sandstone statue of the Virgin Mary, the late-Gothic altar dedicated to St John and the giant crucifix hanging from the northern pillar in the nave.
