The convent was built for the Dominicans in the 15C by Michelozzo, on the orders of Cosimo the Elder. It has works by Fra Angelico (note the Annunciation gracing the staircase), who decorated each cell with a fresco. While the artist certainly incorporated the expressivity and perspective theory of the age in his work, the world he depicts is primarily one of gentleness, confidence and joy. Don't miss the Last Supper by Domenico Ghirlandaio in the guests' refectory and the beautiful library.
