The Benedictine Abbaye d'Echtenach had great cultural influence in the Middle Ages due to its famous scriptorium, about which you can learn more in the abbey museum. The abbey buildings (1727-1731), including the St Willibrord Basilica and the outbuildings, together make for a majestic ensemble. The Abbey of Echternach now houses a secondary school.
