This scenic highway, managed by the U.S. Forest Service, reaches an altitude of 4 300m/14 105ft. Along the route, the Dos Chappell Nature Center focuses on the bristlecone pine forest of the surrounding Rocky Mountains. It's a short walk to the summit, home to marmots, goats and bighorn sheep (more easily visible in the morning), where the 360-degree views encompass the Front Range and the Continental Divide.
