The Mohawk Trail is an ideal way to enjoy the Indian summer. The 42.5 miles of Route 2 between Greenfield and the New York State border have been dubbed the "Mohawk Trail". One of the oldest roads in the country, it follows a trade route once used by various Indian tribes. Following the Deerfield River and the Cold River, and crossing part of the Connecticut Valley and the wooded hills of the Berkshires, it offers a bucolic spectacle.
