Founded in the 6C, the heyday of this Benedictine abbey occurred during the 10C-12C. The lovely pre-Romanesque church is fronted by a narthex whose decoration is Byzantine, while the inner walls are covered in outstanding 14C frescoes inspired by miniatures. The elegant nine-storey belltower dates from the 11C.
