This 65-acre collection of weathered 19C log cabins and outbuildings sits behind split-rail fences enclosing placid horses and sheep. Gobbling turkeys and clucking hens roam the grounds, and the occasional fiddler can be found sitting on a cabin porch. The provenance and estimated age of each structure is documented, usually through a story about its owners. Self-guided tours start in the Appalachia Hall of Fame, a three-story edifice crammed with marvelous handcrafted items, from a walnut writing desk to handmade musical instruments.
