Founded in 1987, the breeding and research centre is home to the largest number of giant pandas born in captivity in the world, all of whom roam freely within huge enclosures that recreate their natural bamboo habitat. You will see red pandas and irresistible baby pandas, which have become the symbol of Sichuan. Births take place regularly and when there are enough animals, it is planned to set them free.
