Rich in lovely half-timbered houses, the mainly pedestrian historic town of Celle is extremely picturesque. Neue Straße, Zöllnerstraße and Poststraße sport some particularly well preserved houses (richly carved Hoppenerhaus (1532) and Kalandgasse, near the church (Alte Lateinschule, 1602).
