This immense Citadel, built in the 11C by William the Conqueror, is today a public park and has been restored to the impressive condition it probably enjoyed at William's time. Its terrace and ramparts command fine views over the town; the castle of Caen today houses the Fine Art Museum and the Normandy museum.
