This museum is dedicated to Hungarian painting and sculpture from the 19th century to the present day. Notable 19th-century painters include Mihály Munkácsy and László Paál. The museum also houses monumental works depicting historical subjects—such as Gyula Benczúr’s *The Baptism of Vajk*—and hosts temporary exhibitions. On a clear day, be sure to climb to the dome, where terraces offer a 360-degree view of Budapest. Eventually, the Hungarian National Gallery will relocate to the museum complex in Városliget Park.
