Cars motor up and down Lautaret pass (2,057m) all year long. Protected by a carpet of snow in winter, from June to early August its meadows and fields are a riot of colourful mountain wildflowers. In addition to exploring the Alpine garden, stop at the viewing table to get your bearings as you admire the Meije range and its glaciers. A walk in Combeynot Nature Reserve would also be well worth your time.
